Porthleven 3, Torpoint Athletic 6

Porthleven came out on the wrong end of a nine-goal thriller on their return to the FA Vase on Saturday as Torpoint Athletic ran out 6-3 winners at Gala Parc.

SWPL Premier side Torpoint took the lead on 12 minutes when Danny Zalick sent a spot kick past Jason Robertson after the Port keeper had brought down Gary Hird.

Zalick made it 2-0 six minutes later when Sam Hill surged down the right and squared to the Torpoint frontman to slot past Robertson.

The Fishermen were back in it on 32 minutes when Matt Drummond was hauled down in the box, with Jordan Adlard converting the resulting penalty.

But the visitors restored their two-goal lead just before half-time when Zalick played in Steve Rogers to score.

Zalick completed his hat-trick on the hour when he fired in the rebound after Robertson had saved an earlier effort.

But Port were back to within two goals a few minutes later when Drummond continued his blistering start to the season by heading in from Rob Carey’s cross.

However Torpoint surged further ahead yet again thanks to Hird’s strike, before a wonderful curled effort from Sam West left Robertson with no chance to end the tie as a contest.

The hosts pulled another goal two minutes from time with Drummond again scoring from a Carey cross, but it is the end of the road in the FA Vase for the Fishermen.
