Falmouth 1, Isca III 4

Falmouth suffered defeat at home to Isca in their first Premier Division 2B league game of the season at Penryn College on Saturday.

Falmouth, newly promoted to the Premier Division after winning last year’s South Division, took the lead through Vic Pryor, who found the corner of the goal after a ball from Amy Bucknole.

Just before half time Isca equalised when a shot on goal deflected off the post straight onto the stick of another forward who was able to quickly push the ball into the goal.

The second half saw some excellent defending from player of the match Tatum Godwin, who worked extremely hard to cut out any balls being sent down the Isca right wing.

Falmouth were unlucky to give away several short corners in the second half and Isca knew this was their chance to get ahead, scoring from two powerful strikes.

Isca’s final goal came from a quick break which caught Falmouth off guard.

Falmouth II 6, Truro 1

Falmouth seconds bounced back from last week’s opening-game defeat by thrashing Truro on Saturday.

The home team got off to an excellent start when Suzanne Bull set up Choire Lister to slam the ball into goal with her first touch.

Player of the Match, Choire, doubled Falmouth’s lead a few minutes later as she fired the ball beyond the ‘keeper’s reach.

Truro pulled one back but in the second half Falmouth reasserted themselves and once again controlled the majority of the possession.

In her first game for Falmouth, Alexa Blake scored the third goal with a strong push shot after receiving a good pass from Bull.

Blake then scored her second goal, finding the finishing touch this time after a pass from Louise Cross. Rachel Medd scored Falmouth’s fifth from a direct shot at a penalty corner before Cross rounded off the scoring.

Falmouth II: Amie Cadwell, Rachel Medd, Stacey Williams, Amanda Wills, Robyn Ivall, Hanna Brixton, Eloise Ireland, Choire Lister, Alexa Blake, Suzanne Bull, Louise Cross.

Falmouth make the long trip to Bournemouth on Saturday (2.45pm) while Falmouth 2 host Bodmin at Penryn College (11am).
