Duchy 6, Falmouth II 0

Falmouth seconds suffered a heavy defeat at local rivals Duchy in their County Cup first round tie at Pool School on Saturday.

Duchy showed their intentions from the start and came out very strongly, controlling the play for the first ten minutes and giving Falmouth ‘keeper Amie Cadwell some testing shots to save.

Falmouth worked their way into the game and showed Duchy that they were not going to have it all their own way.

Duchy took the lead on 15 minutes when they broke out of defence and swiftly moved the ball up the pitch and finished with a strong shot into the corner of the goal.

Duchy’s finishing was clinical as they scored twice more before half-time.

Duchy continued to dominate in the second half but Falmouth kept trying to put their passes together.

Duchy scored three more goals in the second half, two from very strong and accurate strikes at penalty corners.

Falmouth’s first team enjoyed a 17-0 win at newcomers Caradon 4 in their County Cup clash.

  • Falmouth travel to play Teign at Dawlish Leisure Centre at 12pm on Saturday while Falmouth ll visit Brickfields to play Mannamead at 10.30am. On Sunday Falmouth ll play their rearranged match, away to Camborne SoM at Penryn College at 1pm.
