Wendron United 3, Bude Town 1

Two second-half penalties helped secure victory for Wendron in their SWPL Division 1 West clash with Bude Town at Underlane on Saturday.

Joe Souch put Dron ahead on 65 minutes before Jack Stocker doubled the lead shortly after from the spot.

Nath Bonney halved the visitors' deficit with 12 minutes to go but Rory Jarvis made it three when he slammed home the rebound after Stocker saw his second spot kick saved.

Dron started the better of the two sides without really testing Bude 'keeper Gary Dinshaw, with Yeshe Briar, TJ Walter and Toby Milligan all firing high or wide throughout the first half.

The visitors looked to threaten on the counter and twice came close to scoring, with Harry Hopcroft and Bonney both sending efforts wide.

Dron should have taken on the hour when Dinshaw was sold short from a backpass, with Jarvis nipping in to round the 'keeper, but his low cross into the box was turned over the bar by Briar.

But the hosts did break the deadlock five minutes later when Souch steered Walter's cross into the corner of Dinshaw's goal at the near post.

The second arrived another three minutes later when Stocker sent Dinshaw the wrong way from the spot after Walter was brought down just inside the box.

Wendron had their tails up and were intent on securing a match-wining third goal, but it was Bude who struck next after Bonney found himself clean through on goal and rolled the ball past Wendron 'keeper Dan Stedman.

But Dron had the points in the bag three minutes from time when the referee pointed to the spot for a second time after Ben Ringrose was brought down. Dinshaw got his revenge on Stocker by saving his kick, but Jarvis was on hand to convert when the ball eventually came his way a few moments later.
