Helston Athletic 2, Torpoint Athletic 1

SCOTT Beattie’s second-half strike helped to claim another three points for in-form Helston Athletic at home to Torpoint on Saturday.

John Heveran's header gave the visitors the lead before Phil Cattran levelled on the half-hour mark, with Beattie's strike proving to be the winner as Helston picked up their fifth win from their last six games.

Despite a dominant display from the home side, it was Torpoint who led after just three minutes when Heveran headed in from a corner.

The hosts responded well and put pressure on the visitors, with Kai Cornish one of the men to test Torpoint 'keeper Brodie Cole.

But they did break through on 30 minutes when he slid in to convert George Roberts' cross at the far post.

The Blues continued their dominance with Matt Bye and Ryan Beattie coming close either side of half-time.

But they had to wait until there were just over 15 minutes left of the game before Beattie finally gave the home side the lead, racing onto a long ball and taking it around Cole before slotting into the net.

Torpoint's hopes of salvaging a point all but ended when Peter Bradley was shown a straight red after a clash with Kirk Davies.
