Falmouth Docks Table Tennis Club was celebrating again this week following the success of its Junior players at the Cornwall County Closed Junior Championships held at St Austell.

Most of the various junior events were won by Falmouth Docks players in events that attracted players from all over the County.

Joe Crouse won the Junior Boys Singles defeating Owen Cooksley in the final. Joe plays for Falmouth Docks C in Division One of The Senior West Cornwall League. He was outstanding all day and won the final in straight games.

He also teamed up with club mate Leo Haughton to win the Junior Doubles to crown a fine day for the Falmouth player and Penryn College student. Joe is currently a key member of the British Paralympic Table Tennis Squad.

Erin Bryant is another fine Falmouth prospect at just 11 years old. She emerged from eight girls to win the Under-12 Girls event and looks to be a star in the making for Cornwall in the future.

She also came runner up in the Junior Girls Singles behind Torpoint’s Holly Davis. Erin also plays for Falmouth Docks in the West Cornwall League.

The Boys Under-12 event was also won by a Falmouth Docks player with Dan Phillips playing some brilliant table tennis to win the event from a strong field of players. The promising Sonny Griffiths also from Falmouth was unlucky in his semi final of the same event but is showing great potential for the future.

Falmouth Docks currently has around 30 junior players in its ranks ranging from highly ranked England players in Edan Regan and Jarvis Lee to British Paralympic Squad players Dylan Tynan, Harry Rose, Joe Crouse and Harvey Thompson, to local and grass roots juniors, ensuring a bright future for the club.
