It was a tough weather week at Falmouth Golf Club with the Christmas Draw stableford again postponed but the Turkey Trot and Cut n' Carve followed by Christmas Carols went ahead without a problem thank to the efforts of the greenkeepers, writes Keith Rashleigh.

The Bar Manager Richard Harris had an inspirational round as he was the overall winner with 41 stableford points. The 0-16 handicap section was won by Robbie Edgson with 36 points. Runner-up was Mike Hodges with 35 points, edging out Gordon Kelly and Malcolm "Bert” Coulls on countback.

The 17-28 section was won by Paul Marsh with 35 points. Runner-up was Matt Higham with 34 points on countback from Steve Burrows and Keith Van Reign.

The best scratch of the day was by Dave Drewett who carded 34 points playing off five.

There followed a super Cut n' Carve lunch followed by the Christmas Carols, conducted superbly by Malcolm “Bert” Coulls, in aid of Charity.

  • The Seniors at Praa Sands held their Monthly Medal on Wednesday. Doug Pedrick won a very closely contested event with a score of 60 (72-12). Gary Peters was second on countback with 61 (76 -15) ahead of Joe Hill (79-18) and Jeff Friggens (80-19), who finished third and fourth respectively.

The Ladies enjoyed their Christmas Meal at The Boathouse on Saturday while men competed for their Monthly Medal on Sunday.

A fine battle fought between Mike Jacka (63-6) and Giles Lawrence (69-12), who both finished with a nett 57, finished with Mike winning on countback. David Prowse finished third (73-15) and Gary Peters was fourth (75-15).
