Dobwalls 3, Porthleven 1

PORTHLEVEN will go into Christmas as South West Peninsula League Division 1 West leaders despite losing at Dobwalls on Saturday.

The Fishermen were beaten in an entertaining match that saw both sides end the game with ten men.

Dan O’Brien gave the hosts the lead with a powerful finish on 20 minutes before Tornado Bello’s penalty levelled the scores just before the break after Danny O’Hagan – making his Porthleven debut – was adjudged to have been fouled in the box.

Stuart Morgan restored Dobwalls’ lead with a superb header early in the second half before Danny O’Hagan was given his marching orders after picking up a second yellow for Port.

But Sam Ingram made it ten-a-side when he was shown a straight red for a leading with his elbow in a challenge.

Dobwalls had the chance to seal the victory when Xcoli Ncube was brought down in the box but Ray Spear sent his spot-kick over the bear.

But Spear made amends soon after when he drove the ball into the bottom corner to make sure of the points for the home side with ten minutes to go.

Port will still be top at Christmas despite the defeat as closest rivals Liskeard did not play on Saturday.
