THE day’s top match in the Trelawny League premier division saw Illogan RBL Reserves add some New Year spice to the title race when they defeated leaders Penwith Exiles 1-0 in a gripping clash at Oxland Parc.

Penryn Athletic Reserves were unable to cash in on the result after slumping to a heavy 7-2 defeat to Mousehole Reserves who leapfrogged them in the table. Paul Hart and Scott McElwee scored their goals.

Helston Athletic IIIs were narrow 3-2 winners against Troon with goals from Harry Luckett (2) and Terry Rowe and Mawnan, who were reduced to ten men after 24 minutes, overcame a strong challenge from Stithians with a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Adam Keenan and Greg Hobbs.

In division one St Keverne went down 3-0 at Newlyn Lions but Wendron III thumped Constantine 5-1 who scored through Zack Martin.

Ruan Minor maintained their unbeaten record in division two with a 2-1 win at Falmouth Town III after Curtis Wright scored for Town and Falmouth DC won by the same score at St Day III after notching goals through Tom Prynn and Paul Jeffery.

Frogpool-Cusgarne held on to top spot after handing third-placed New Inn Titans a 9-1 drubbing. David Leach (4), Sam Bromley, Aaron Coveney, Will Harding, Craig Rothwell and Alex Prynn scored the goals.

Mullion Reserves went down 4-3 away to St Ives Mariners.

Perranwell Reserves lead division three after a 2-1 win away to St Erme. Matt Rose and Kian Rowland had the goals.

Chris Symon scored for Wendron IV in their 5-1 defeat by Praze and Frogpool/Cusgarne Reserves were held to a 4-4 draw at Troon Reserves.

Stithians Reserves went down 7-0 to Threemilestone Reserves in division four and Lizard Argyle Reserves were beaten 4-1 at Hayle III.

In the Arthur Pearce Cup Mawnan Reserves cruised into the next round with a 7-0 win at Rosudgeon Reserves. Peter Blight (2), Shaun Rickard (2), Pete Sharp, Simon Spear and Rob Brown scored the goals.
