Truro 0, Falmouth II 7

FALMOUTH seconds had a convincing win over local rivals Truro in the County Plate quarter-final at Truro School on Saturday.

The first half saw Falmouth dominate the play with Truro making only a few breaks in attack that were well defended.

Despite the ball being in Falmouth’s attacking D the new forward line did not get onto the scoresheet until midway through the first half when Kelly Jefferies pushed the ball into goal from close range.

More goals were still eluding the team but Jefferies, looking menacing in attack, scored her second just before half-time.

After the interval Falmouth got into their stride and found the form that the first half had promised and a third goal came quickly, as it was tapped in by Jeanne Naylor after several shots at goal were saved.

The fourth goal was from a superb straight strike by Danny Burnford at a penalty corner. Suzanne Bull picked up a perfect cross from Hanna Royle from the right and onetouched it into the left hand corner to put Falmouth into a comfortable lead.

The final two goals came from text book play with Bull taking the ball down the right wing, along the base line before pushing it to player-of-the-match Jefferies who was perfectly placed on both occasions to slot it in.
