Porthleven 6, Bude Town 0

JOSH Sims scored twice as Porthleven put six goals past ten-man Bude Town in their South West Peninsula League Division 1 West match at Gala Parc on Saturday.

Chris Wormington, Hayden Dark, Rob Carey and George Molcher also got on the scoresheet as the Fishermen consolidated their place at the top of the table going into next week’s crunch clash with title rivals Liskeard Athletic.

Bude turned up at Gala Parc with just ten men but their defence held out until the 36th minute, when Sims opened the scoring for Port with a good finish after a strong run down the left flank.

Sims added a second before the break before Wormington made it three on the hour.

The floodgates had well and truly opened by this point with Dark bagging the fourth a few minutes later before Carey scored a tap-in for goal number five with Molcher rounding off the scoring late on.

Manager Alan Carey said: “To be honest the first half was not a very good performance. Bude only turned up wth ten men and I think it’s a psychological thing when you go out there against ten men, you just think that it’s going to be easy and it never is.

“Quite often when you see a player get sent off and go down to ten men it always changes the game and sometimes it is more difficult. I think psychologically the players weren’t at their best but the second half they really came out and took the game to them and played like we have been playing in the last few weeks and scored some good goals again.”
