Can we do it again?

That is the question on some Plymouth Argyle fans' lips at the moment.

After another torrid start to a league campaign, optimism has returned to parts of the Argyle fanbase after picking up seven points from the last three games.

Fans are now salivating at the prospect of taking another three at Coventry City on Saturday to finally kick-start our push for the play-offs.

I know what most fans are saying at this point. WE'VE ONLY WON TWO GAMES.

Yes, and we've been here a few times this season alone. We see a brief spike in results and we all think "are we doing it again?"

Fast forward two games and we slip back down to where we started with a bump.

We got a much-needed win at Wimbledon and we thought our luck was turning; two weeks later we had racked up defeats to Swindon, Oxford and Burton.

Then came the Gillingham result, a comfortable, almost effortless 3-1 win; that was followed by a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea under-23s, a 2-0 defeat to Sunderland and a loss at League Two Newport.

Then we wondered if a 2-1 win at Rochdale would be the catalyst we oh so desperately needed; cue a 3-0 hammering at home to Accrington Stanley and a Boxing Day defeat to Wimbledon.

Since then, however, we've picked up a draw at Burton before successive wins over Oxford and Southend.

So, can we do it again? We should really know better, but we don't so let's have a look.

We've picked up an all too rare two wins in a row, but as we know we've been there before.

The result at the Ricoh on Saturday is important. It is not a must-win but we need to take something from the game in order to keep our run going. I would certainly take a point right now if offered.

A win, however, would be significant. We haven't won three in a row all season and we haven't gone four unbeaten since March of last year, when our run of seven wins and a draw catapulted us into play-off contention.

Can we do it again?

I'll get my coat.
