Bath City 1, Truro City 1

TRURO City came from behind to claim a much-deserved point away at high flying Bath City on Saturday afternoon, writes Cameron Weldon.

After a narrow 0-1 defeat to Woking at Treyew Road on Tuesday evening, City headed to Somerset looking to respond to a positive performance which earned them nothing.

It was a worst possible start for the White Tigers though as Bath were awarded a penalty with just three minutes on the clock.

Captain Anthony Straker who scored a penalty in the corresponding fixture in October again stood up and fired past Harvey Rivers to give the hosts the early lead.

Things nearly went from bad to worse for Truro four minutes luckily Ben Harding was on hand to clear one off the line to stop a inevitable second.

Truro then had a huge chance to equalise on 35 minutes after some good work out wide from Niall Thompson who found his cross ultimately fall to Alex Battle, whose shot was brilliant blocked on the line by former White Tigers man Andy Watkins.

Rivers was then called into action to deny Adam Mann just before the half time interval.

Bath started the stronger in the second period and should have made it two eight minutes into the half. Freddie Hinds found himself one and one with Rivers, the strikers effort beat the keeper but rattled off the far post.

Truro started to get more of a foothold in the game and Alex Battle had a header go wide after a great ball from new signing Jason Banton but the offside flag was up.

The White Tigers continued to probe the Bath defenders and got their deserved goal with ten minutes to play. Tyler Harvey fired in from an acute angle for his 21st goal of the season and drew Truro level.

Sean Rigg had an effort clip the crossbar on the 90th minute mark for the hosts before Steven Ziboth fired a huge chance over the bar as both teams looked for a last-minute winner.

Both teams held on and the points were shared. A huge point for Truro in their relegation battle who now turn their attentions to Saturday as they welcome fellow strugglers East Thurrock United to Treyew Road.
