Millbrook 2, Falmouth Town 1

TEN-MAN Falmouth Town’s away-day blues continued as Millbrook came from behind to take all three points in their South West Peninsula League Premier match at Jenkins Park on Saturday.

Luke Johnson had given Town the lead midway through the second half before Jack Wood levelled two minutes later. Tom Payne completed the turnaround from the spot as Town, who had Luke Brabyn sent off, slumped to their eighth away league defeat of the season.

The first 45 minutes ended goalless but both sides had chances to break the deadlock. David Broglino’s quick free-kick almost caught out home ‘keeper Kosta Andrejenko before Lewis Kershaw brought a good save from Ryan Barnes.

James Ward and Johnson both came close with headers before Barnes pulled off another good stop to deny Curtis Damerell.

Falmouth enjoyed a promising start to the second half with Brabyn’s header being swallowed up by Andrejenko before Jack Bowyer could pounce.

They then took the lead on 52 minutes when Bowyer’s shot beat the ‘keeper and struck the crossbar, with Johnson able to prod home from six yards.

But the lead lasted two minutes before the hosts pulled level, with Wood firing past Barnes from the edge of the box.

James Ward came close with a header soon after, but it was Millbrook got their noses in front in their next attack in the 65th minute. Ollie Moody brought down his man inside the box, with Payne blasting the spot-kick home.

Things turned from bad to worse for Town three minutes later when Brabyn, who had been booked a few minutes earlier, was shown a second yellow for a late challenge.
