PENRYN Athletic returned to the top of the Combination League with an emphatic 11-0 win at bottom club Carharrack on Saturday.

Ryan Reeve, Jake Shaw, Russell May and Tyler Cooke all scored two goals apiece, with Luke Osborne, Jack James and Harry Roberts completing the scoring.

The match marked a first return to Carharrack for former manager Harry Pope, with whom he won the league in 2017.

He is now in a stronger position to land another title success this season after reigning champions Perranporth surrendered top spot to Athletic after a 3-2 defeat at St Ives Town.

Max Davies, Josh Magin and Andy Barry put the hosts 3-0 up, with St Ives holding on to all three points despite late strikes from Tom Langford and Ross Somerville.

Penryn are now one point clear at the top with Perranporth still enjoying a game in hand.

St Day remain three points behind Penryn with a game in hand after beating St Agnes 4-1 at their Vogue Park home.

Goals from Dan Richards (2), Tyler Oliver and James Daniel sealed victory for the hosts, with Charlie Kemp replying from the spot.

Next up for the Saints is a Combination League Cup final date with Illogan RBL at Porthleven’s Gala Parc on Easter Sunday.

Hayle won 4-0 at Porthleven to record their first win in a month. Matt Thomas scored twice, with Kane Williams and Richard Harris completing the scoring.

Mullion also earned their first win in a month with a 3-2 victory at home to Redruth United. Rob Carey was available for Mullion with Porthleven’s first team not having a game and he scored the opening goal of the game.

Tom Bryant and Chris Blee also scored for the home side, with Andy Bishop and Brett Adams netting for United.

St Just had regular goalscoring heroes Jack Willis and Ashley Ellis to thank yet again as they beat Perranwell 5-2.

Willis netted a hat-trick for the Tinners to take his league tally to 35 for the season, while Ellis struck twice to take his own tally to 21. Rob Pell scored both of Perranwell’s goals.
