Members of Hayle Runners are trained and ready to go on their marathon adventures. More than 40 members of the club are running in marathons and half marathons this spring and many of them are raising funds for good causes.

Club members are or have been running in marathons in Paris, Manchester, London and Stratford upon Avon (which includes a half marathon) on April 28, the Newport Wales Marathon on May 5, the Maverick X Tribe Run Free Marathon on May 25 and the Edinburgh Marathon on May 26.

The club has a continuing commitment to raise funds for the Cornish Heart Unit Fund (CHUF), where eight members running the London Marathon are raising funds intending to add to the £70,000 raised to date by Hayle Runners for the Cornish charity. In addition to this members are raising funds for a whole range of national and local charities.

Club Chairman Simon Knowles, who is running the London Marathon, is proud of the clubs record, saying: "We pride ourselves on helping runners complete their marathon ambitions by providing training plans and organising a range of training runs.

"26.2 miles is a long way and the long distance training is much easier if you have colleagues running with you.

"Our runners have every right to be proud of their efforts and the amazing amount they raise for good causes is a fantastic feat.

"We would welcome anyone planning a marathon in the future to join us to help with their training."
