Hampton & Richmond Borough 2, Truro City 2

A header from captain Jamie Richards completed a remarkable second half comeback for Truro City to earn them a 2-2 draw at Hampton and Richmond Borough, writes Cameron Weldon.

After a disappointing home defeat at the hands of Gloucester City on Saturday, City needed to get that out of their system, and they started the brighter.

Dan Rooney did well to cut inside but fired his effort just over the bar before Harry Warwick struck the side netting.

Those missed chances came to haunt the White Tigers as Hampton took the lead with their only real chance of the half. Zak Joseph had a shot deflected off Nick Grimes that wrong footed a helpless Alexis Junior for 1-0 to the hosts at the break.

Things went from bad to worse for Truro as two minutes into the second half they conceded a penalty which Ruel Sotiriou took full advantage off putting the home side seemingly out of site.

Truro fought back and completely against the run of play they got one back. Rooney had a shot blocked before Tyler Harvey latched onto to loose ball forcing the keeper into another good save before smashing the rebound into the roof of the net to give City some belief.

Alexis Junior was then forced into a number of good saves before substitute Jason Banton saw a huge opportunity go wide of the post.

Truro got their equaliser on the 90 minute mark as a pin point Jordan Copp cross found the head of skipper Jamie Richards who headed home from close range to send the relegation battle to the final day.

Going into the final day, Truro have to best Slough Town at Treyew Road and hope Hungerford Town lose at home to already relegated East Thurrock United, if they wish to retain their National League South status for another season.
