All ages and abilities are warmly invited to Push the Boat Out Day at the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club on Saturday May 11, between 11am and 5pm.
Push the Boat Out Day is a countrywide initiative set up by the Royal Yachting Association to help people discover the joys of sailing.
It is free to come along and families and children are most welcome - anyone can just pop along and see if sailing floats their boat, no need to book. Lifejackets and qualified instructors are provided. More than 70 children and adults came to the RCYC Push the Boat Out Day last year and had a great time.
There will be dinghy instruction and yacht sailing on the day or you can just enjoy a trip round the harbour. The RNLI (Lifeboats) will be there and they’ll give anyone who needs one a free life jacket check.
Visitors can discover the fabulous waterside Club House and bar, chat with Club members and get the low-down on the Club’s facilities such as the RYA courses on offer, exciting weekly racing, free weekly social sailing (known as “meandering”) and its fun social programme all year round. It’s a great place to make friends and get out on the water, and there’s no need to own a boat to be a member. So why not pop along and give sailing a go?
