PORTHLEVEN opened their Dave Gardner Memorial Tournament campaign with a three-goal win at Penzance.

Dan Stidwell and Kyle Fraser gave Port a two-goal lead at the break, with Gavin Perraton completing the victory ten minutes from time.

Porthleven threatened Barrie Wyatt's goal early on with Stidwell, Fraser and Tom Whipp all having attempts in the first ten minutes.

Stidwell then opened the scoring in the 11th minute, firing home from close range after being teed up by Dan Richardson.

Anton Oliver had the hosts' first shot on goal soon after before Kevin Lawrence fired over.

The hosts increased the pressure and Oliver had the ball in the net but saw it ruled out for offside.

But the visitors resumed control with Stidwell shooting wide before Josh Sims brought a strong reaction save out of Wyatt.

Their pressure was rewarded with a second goal six minutes before half-time, with Ben Stidwell enjoying acres of space on the right before squaring to Fraser who couldn't miss.

The Fishermen thought they had a third when Stidwell played in Gavin Perraton who finished from close range, but the latter was deemed to be marginally offside.

Penzance looked sharper after the break with Mawgan Kewn testing Martin Webster at the near post, before the 'keeper superbly stopped another fierce drive later on.

But Perraton made sure of victory with ten minutes to go by hammering Sims' cross home at the back post.

The visitors spurned the chance of a fourth late on, with Ed Timmons driving wide before Fox's cross was headed off the line.
