THE Cornish Pirates have confirmed prop Will Norton as their first player who will be dual registered with Exeter Chiefs this season.

Exeter-born Will, aged 26, has previously played for Exmouth, Cardiff Met RFC, and for Plymouth Albion.

The Pirates enjoyed a convincing pre-season friendly win over a spirited Redruth side at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.

Robin Wedlake scored two tries, with Javier Rojas Alvarez, Rory Parata, Alex O'Meara, Matt Bolwell also going over.

Truro City picked up their second defeat in three days as they were well beaten 0-2 by Weston-Super-Mare at Treyew Road on Bank Holiday Monday.

After three wins from three to start the new season City suffered their first defeat on Saturday at Chesham despite being in complete control at half time.

In front of over 550 people at Treyew Road, a Jamie Richards own goal and a well taken finish from Nick McCootie condemned the White Tigers to defeat once again.

Truro City have been drawn at home to Wimborne Town in the first qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup. The tie will take place at Treyew Road on September 7, with the winner receiving £4,500.

Truro tennis starlet Matthew Upton will not forget his outing at the All England Club in a hurry despite missing out on Road to Wimbledon National 14 & Under Challenge Finals glory.

After triumphing at the previous County Finals, the Richard Lander School pupil took to Wimbledon’s famous grass courts last week looking to be crowned national champion.

This coming Saturday will see the Cornish Pirates visit Plymouth Albion where they will take part in a Training Day with their former cross Tamar rivals.

This event allows supporters to see both teams in action ahead of their respective 2019/20 rugby campaigns.

Entry to the Brickfields Recreation Ground, open from 12 noon, is £5 only. There will be pop-up bars, stalls and a BBQ, with the rugby action due to start at 2pm.
