MARK Goldsworthy scored a hat-trick as Helston Athletic secured a club record-breaking 12th consecutive league win in style with a thumping 8-0 victory at home to Sticker.

Goldsworthy bagged two before the break, with Billy Tucker, Phil Cattran and Matt Bye joining him on the scoresheet as the Blues led 5-0 at half-time.

Half-time substitute Alfie Flack made it six before fellow sub Alex Wharton secured the seventh, with Goldsworthy completing both his hat-trick and Helston's record-breaking win late on.

Helston have now also won as many games in all competitions this season (16) as they had in the whole of last term.

The Blues looked threatening from the off and were ahead on 12 minutes, with Tucker getting the better of his man on the right before cutting inside and firing into the bottom corner.

It was 2-0 in the blink of an eye with Tucker being brought down by Adam Solomon in the box barely two minutes later, with Goldsworthy slamming home from the spot for his 21st league goal of the season.

Cattran scored his first goal of the season in Saturday's 3-1 win at St Blazey, and he doubled his tally for the year on 22 minutes to make it three with a fine shot into the far bottom corner.

Just six further minutes elapsed before the fourth rolled in, with Goldsworthy the first to react to a long ball over the top of the defence, racing through before lobbing Sticker 'keeper Anton Lake.

Bye got in on the goal scoring action soon after, receiving a pass from Cattran and drilling into the far bottom corner from just inside the box.

Sticker's night got worse when captain Mickey Rowles-Jane was sent to the sin bin for reacting to the referee's award of a free-kick against him shortly before the break.

It was nearly six within seconds of the start of the second half with the Blues finding the net almost instantly from kick-off, but were denied by the linesman's flag.

But the sixth came along ten minutes later after a lovely dummy by Goldsworthy to let a through ball run through to half-time substitute Flack, who raced in on his own and fired past Lake.

Derrick Lucas was next to go into the sin bin for Sticker, and the Blues notched their seventh in his absence, with Bye crossing in following a short corner for Wharton to head home from six yards.

Kyle Marks came off the bench to make his first appearance in Helston shirt for more than a year, replacing Cattran in the 85th minute.

The final goal arrived not too long after, with Goldsworthy controlling a pass and managing to fire into the corner just before he was tackled by a Sticker defender.
