Ruth Phillips returned to her native Scotland at the weekend by doing the distance and showing the Hayle Runners shirt at the Glentress Winter Trail Half Marathon in the Tweed Valley, Scotland.

Ruth found it to be quite a challenge but really enjoyed the race, saying: "'It was pretty much running up a mountain for six miles then throwing yourself back down it. Hardly a flat patch in sight! Following Forest tracks up through pine woods, then over heather and bracken, then down an exhilarating mountain bike black route.

"The run involved 1,883 feet ascent of climbing and I was definitely ready for my Irn Bru at the end so I felt right at home."

Ruth finished the race in two hours 45 minutes.

Closer to home, Kathryn Osborn and Mike Wright were also showing the shirt at the Penrose Woods 10k, a race around the National Trust estate near Helston in what turned out to be a very muddy and wet run. They finished the run in one hour and 32 minutes.

Hayle Runners did their bit for Children in Need by having a fundraising run on Sunday from Mawla near Redruth courtesy of Helen and Simon Knowles.

A large group of Hayle Runners and their friends had a very sociable run, shared food and raised over £300 in donations and raffle proceeds.
