TRURO City picked up their 12th league win of the season after a hard fought 0-1 win over Beaconsfield Town at Holloways Park, writes Cameron Weldon.

Alex Battle’s first half strike proved to be enough despite both teams threatening to add to that tally.

Following on from last week's 0-2 away victory over Blackfield & Langley, Truro headed to Buckinghamshire looking to build on that against a Beaconsfield side who had only won twice all season.

Saying that, it was the hosts who started the stronger and looked the more likely to break the deadlock.

Truro goalkeeper James Hamon was forced into a splendid finger tip save from a free kick before making himself big to halt a beautiful worked move by the home side.

Those missed chances would came back to haunt the hosts as Truro took their opportunity when it came. Alex Battle who came in for the injured Austen Booth superbly finished into the top corner after some great work from Niall Thompson to give Truro the lead.

Paul Wotton’s men took confidence from the goal and dominated proceedings from then on.

Truro controlled the second half and had a number of chances to make it two. First Niall Thompson saw two shots saved by the keeper before the ball fell to top goal scorer Tyler Harvey who couldn’t keep his header down.

The White Tigers came even closer when the unlikely sources of defenders Ed Palmer and Harlain Mbayo combined. Palmer headed down a Will Dean corner to Mbayo who couldn’t direct the ball over the line.

Battle fired an effort just wide of the target while Harvey also had a shot blocked.

Despite not adding a second, one goal was enough as the White Tigers claimed all three points and picked up their 12 league win of the season but have the first half heroics of Hamon to thank for the victory.

After three straight away fixtures, they now have a week to recover before they return to Treyew Road as they welcome Walton Casuals to Cornwall on Saturday. (kick-off 3pm)
