TRURO City remain a point clear at the top of the Southern League Premier South table, after the White Tigers fought back from 0-1 down to defeat Farnborough 2-1 at Treyew Road, writes Cameron Weldon.

A stunning free kick from Tyler Harvey drew Paul Wotton’s side level after Connor Cullen had put the visitors in front. Will Swan completed the turn around as he was the first to react to a spilled ball by the goalkeeper to score his sixth goal in five games for the club.

Having defeated the same opposition back in August, the White Tigers welcomed the Surrey side to Cornwall looking to stay on top of the pile.

After a slow start to the game it was Wotton’s side who had the early opportunity. Harvey superbly picked out strike partner Swan who took the ball down well but fired an effort just wide of the mark.

That chance came back to haunt the White Tigers as Connor Cullen put the visitors in front just shy of the half hour mark after an awful error from Mbayo, gifted him the opportunity to score.

The visitors then rattled the post as Truro struggled to get a foothold in the encounter.

But the league leaders were not to be out done as a re-energised Truro came out of the second half.

City dominated the game from then on and it was only a matter of time before they equalised. With just over ten minutes gone in the second half they got that goal.

Tyler Harvey levelled the scores with a stunning free kick that gave the keeper no chance, bringing the home side back into the game.

It took just another ten minutes for City to turn things around completely. Harvey saw a shot parried by the keeper but only to the feet of Swan who was never going to miss from there.

Ed Palmer was then shown a yellow card and a red card in the space of 60 seconds, as he was sent his marching orders for a late tackle and kicking the ball away.

A man down, Paul Wotton’s men had to dig deep but despite the visitors seeing much of the ball, Truro put their bodies on the line and managed to hold out and prevent their opponents any opportunities to test James Hamon.

Truro now travel to Gosport Borough as the title race starts to heat up.
