PAUL Wotton’s Truro City side remain top of the pile in the Southern League Premier South after an impressive second half performance saw the White Tigers over come Harrow Borough 4-1 at Treyew Road, writes Cameron Weldon.

Tyler Harvey’s 17th and 18th goals of the campaign along with goals from both Will Dean and Will Swan gifted Truro the three points despite them going behind in the windy conditions in the opening 45 minutes.

Unsurprisingly Wotton named an unchanged starting XI from the side that defeated Salisbury 0-3 on Tuesday evening, but Truro struggled to find their form in the early stages.

After very little goal line action it was in fact the visitors from London who found the breakthrough. Harrow took full advantage from a misplaced Adel Gafaiti pass as they opened the scoring through a well taken George Morris strike into the top corner which gave James Hamon in the Truro goal no chance.

Truro have been praised for their resilience this season and that showed as they drew level within three minutes of going behind.

Will Swan latched onto a long ball and drove into the penalty area before being tripped and fouled.

Tyler Harvey stepped up and did what he does best as he finished with aplomb to level the score line.

With the score level at the break, Truro came out the stronger of the two sides in the second half and it was 2-1 within a blink of an eye. Exeter City loanee Will Dean hit a shot from outside the box into the far bottom corner to give Wotton’s men the lead for the first time in the game.

City continued to dominate the second period and it wasn’t long before they made it 3-1. Swan saw a backwards header catch everyone out as it clipped the back post and went in to give the White Tigers real daylight in the game.

Rio Garside was introduced, coming on for Alex Battle and it was nearly a perfect introduction for the midfielder as he cut inside and saw a shot rattle the cross bar.

Harvey who struck twice in midweek, made sure he replicated that, as the striker picked another goal with 14 minutes to play. City’s and the League’s top goal scorer headed home a corner from close range to wrap up another massive victory for Truro as they remain top of the pile with 13 games left to play.

Truro are next in action on Saturday as they make the long journey to Hendon.
