WENDRON United have entered into a partnership with international charity KitAid, the club have announced.

The club revealed on Sunday that it will become the county's hub for the charity, which provides football kit and equipment to Africa and some of the most deprived areas of the world.

All local clubs and visiting teams to the club's The Underlane ground will be able to drop off any used adult and youth kits plus any equipment such as cones, bibs and mini-goals.

First-team assistant manager Mike O'Neill has taken on the role as regional co-ordinator for Cornwall.

He said: "Having the opportunity to work with KitAid as an individual on behalf of the region and together as part of Wendron United AFC has great potential.

"Derrick [Williams, charity founder] and I spoke at length over the representation for the charity within Cornwall and I'm really confident given the large amount of teams we cover, we can contribute to the vision of the charity."

Any club or individual wishing to donate can contact Mike at wendron.sponsorship@yahoo.com, and further details can be given.

If any team wishes to donate on a matchday, they just need to bring the equipment and make it known to any of the club staff and they will be able to support.

KitAid was established in 1998 by Derrick Williams MBE and has delivered more than 650,000 items of football kit to more than 58 countries.
