Another weekend of football awaits with FA Vase fixtures coming in to play for the first time of the season as well as the usual league fixtures.

Both Wendron United and Helston Athletic will take part in the Vase this weekend. It will be an historic occasion for Wendron, their match against Bishop Sutton at Underlane will be their first ever game in the competition.

The Dron will be looking to get back to winning ways following a narrow 3-2 defeat to Liskeard last time out. Bishop Sutton play in Division One of the Toolstation Western League and are currently sixth in the division with 18 points from their opening 11 matches. They go into Saturday's match following a 3-3 draw with Radstock Town.

Ahead of Saturday's match Helston Athletic's manager Steve Massey said: "The vase has always been a competition that I want to go really far in, I have got a real eye on wanting to have a go this year. I think I have a squad that is capable of it.” To do so they need to beat South West Peninsula League East side Elmore in another away trip for the Blues.

In the South West Peninsula League (SWPL) Falmouth Town have the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table. Second placed Camelford are playing in the FA Vase this weekend meaning that if Falmouth beat Callington Town they will put eight points between themselves and the Camels.

Town are flying at the moment, they kicked on from a 1-4 away win at Dobwalls with a routine 0-5 away victory at struggling Godolphin in midweek. It was their ninth win of the season in the league, their tenth in all competitions.

After winning against Penzance but then losing to Newquay last week, Penryn Athletic will be hoping that they can take three points when they host bottom placed St Dennis at Kernick Road on Saturday. Penryn have taken seven points from eight games so far this season in their first venture in the SWPL.

There will be a first ever league game for Helston Women's Development side at Kellaway Park on Sunday September 26, the Blues take on Saltash United Development in Division One of the Cornwall Women's Football League (CWFL).

Wendron United Ladies will look to get their first win of the season when they travel to Charleston Town Ladies in Division Two of the CWFL, they were defeated 6-3 by Dropship FC in their last game.
