In arguably their biggest game of the season so far Falmouth Town host Bradford Town in the FA Vase First Round Proper this afternoon.

The Teams

Falmouth Town are having their best ever start to a league season, the Bickland Park side have won every game they have played so far. Twelve wins in the South West Peninsula League, two wins in the Walter C Parson Cup and a win in the Cornwall Senior Cup have seen the side dominate Cornish football so far this campaign.

Falmouth's firepower going forward is a force to be reckoned with. Striker Luke Brabyn is their top scorer with 17 goals, but there are talisman across Falmouth's front line. Jack Bray-Evans who signed from Newquay is into double figures for the season, while Luke Barner and Tim Nixon are both on nine goals so far. Even centre back and Falmouth Captain James Ward has notched seven goals already.

Falmouth's opponents, Bradford Town play in the Hellenic League which is a step higher than Falmouth's level. On paper it should provide Falmouth with their toughest match of the season. Bradford have won their last three matches the most recent being a 2-3 away win at Calne Town in midweek. They are sixth in their league with a record of P12, W9, D1, L3.

The Competition

The FA Vase is a competition solely for teams in step five and six of the non league football pyramid, or steps nine and ten of the overall English football league hierarchy. The tournament offers the sides their best chance of getting to Wembley, the home of football, for where the final will be played. There are two qualifying rounds, six knockout rounds before a final at Wembley.

The Game

Kick off is at 3pm at Falmouth Town's home ground at Bickland Park. If the teams can't be separated in normal time the match will be decided by a penalty shootout without the need for extra time. If you can't attend the fixture there will be live updates throughout the game on the Packet website.
