2019 winners of the Cornwall Senior Cup Falmouth Town are on the road for the Third Round of this seasons competition away to Bodmin Town.

The Teams:

Falmouth have gone from strength to strength this season. As winter draws in the Bickland Park side still maintain a fantastic record of winning every game so far this season in all competitions. It is a run of form that has seen them ascend to the top of the South West Peninsula League and keep their place there despite not playing a league game in nearly a month.

They have a maximum league points return of 36 from their 12 games, scoring 53 and conceding just ten.

Impressively in their last match they defeated Bradford Town who play a step above Town in the FA Vase. Town were even reduced to ten men when Kirk Davies saw red, but despite this managed to hold on for the win. Manager Andrew Westgarth confirmed that Davies would miss the Bodmin match through suspension.

In an interview with the Packet Westgarth is looking forward for what promises to be an exciting game between the two sides: "We had a good session on Tuesday night, with a big game coming up you always seem to get a good turn out at training! Everyone is champing at the bit really, confidence is high and everyone just can't wait to get going"

"Every game since I have been manager against Bodmin has been eventful they have always been tough games. There has been so many big games you can point out, i remember the phantom penalty given at Bickland Park when we were 2-1 up in injury time and we lost 3-2. We had Wardy's (James Ward) famous hat trick up there where we beat them 4-0.

"Then we went up there the other year and lost 4-0 ourselves, there was a game up there where Jack Bowyer scored off his backside after the keeper has kicked it against him. There is so many big games against Bodmin that we have had. The Senior Cup final was played at Bodmin so there is history there too. Bodmin vs Falmouth in my time always seems to be an eventful afternoon."

The last time the sides met this season Falmouth's Andreas Calleja-Stayne grabbed the winner late on in a thrilling 4-3 win for Falmouth Town.

Bodmin are 13th in the SWPL table and lost 6-0 to Brockenhurst in their last fixture.
