Four first-half goals secured Falmouth Town a place in this year's Cornwall Senior Cup final as they cruised to a 4-0 victory over Dobwalls at Bodieve Park.

Luke Barner opened the scoring in the very first minute of the game, getting the faintest of touches on a Jack Bray-Evans cross.

Barner then turned provider as he laid the ball on a plate for Bray-Evans to make it 2-0 with less than ten minutes played.

Falmouth made it 3-0 midway through the half when David Broglino scored from long range despite the best efforts of the goalkeeper.

Bray-Evans completed the scoring with his second and Town's fourth before halftime with a curled effort into the corner from inside the box.

Dobwalls notched a consolation when Nathan Lang volleyed home from close range in the dying minutes.

Hopes of a comeback were quashed though as Ray Spear was shown a straight red card for a high and late tackle on Andreas-Calleja Stayne in stoppage time.

Town held on and joined the F-Troop with cheers, songs and celebrations at full time.

Falmouth face the winner of Wendron United vs Saltash United, which takes place on Wednesday, March 16.

Going into the match Andrew Westgarth was forced to make one change late on as David Broglino replaced Scott Kellow who pulled up in the warm-up.

Town began off kicking away from their following F Troop, who supported in good numbers and started the scoring with their first attack of the game in the opening minute.

The ever-lively Jack Bray-Evans wriggled clear of his man on the left flank before cutting in and delivering a dangerous ball toward Luke Barner who had made a storming run between two Dobwalls defenders.

The cross was inch-perfect for Barner who stretched to get the faintest of touches on the ball to guide it into the far corner.

The goal was the perfect way to crush any pre-match nerves that there may have been and shortly later Town were celebrating again when the same combination reversed roles to double the lead.

A short back pass from the Dobwalls centre half allowed Barner to nip and take the ball around the goalkeeper. The forward's touch took him to the byline where he managed to keep the ball in play before feeding a low delivery across the box for the waiting Bray-Evans who had the simple task of tapping in from within the six-yard box to make it 2-0 after nine minutes.

Town continued to boss the opening exchanges and Tim Nixon might have felt he should have done better in the 21st minute when he glanced  Luke Brabyn cross over the bar.

Five minutes later though Dobwalls were picking the ball out of the back of the net for the third time when David Broglino produced another wonderful goal. Falmouth utilised the terrific surface at Bodieve Park to move the defence around before Broglino ended up with the ball at least 25 yards out.

Urged to shoot by the fans the number eight duly obliged sending a fierce swerving shot that keeper Jordan Duffy could only palm into the back of the net to make it 3-0 after 26 minutes.

In the ten minutes that followed the trailing side had three opportunities to find a way back into the match. Firstly Dominic Bryant's fierce deflected drive found its way onto the crossbar before Jordan McCarthy headed a wide free-kick straight at Ryan Barnes with 32 minutes played.

On 36 minutes Dobwalls had the bar rattling again when Danny Zalick tried an audacious dipping half volley that had Barnes beaten. However again, the bar came to Falmouth's rescue as they weathered a flurry of Dobwalls attacks.

Despite the Dobwalls efforts, it was Falmouth who were celebrating again after 37 minutes when Bray-Evans grabbed his second of the match.

Again Falmouth found joy on the left flank. Barner, involved as ever, did superbly well to beat his man and find a low cross. The centre was cleared only as far as Bray-Evans who steadied himself before firing toward the top left corner. Once more the custodian got a hand to the effort but failed to keep it out as the game slipped away from Dobwalls with was the last notable moment of the first period.

Falmouth's game management was to now be tested as the second half got underway. Previously in the Senior Cup, they let a three-goal lead away to Bodmin slip before winning 5-3, although early moments suggested they had learned from that drama as they continued to dominate the possession.

After 53 minutes they could have increased the scoring after Nixon picked out the onrushing Broglino but the midfielder's effort was going well wide of the target before it was eventually cleared.

Such was the strength of the Falmouth backline Dobwalls were limited to merely half chances at goal early on. Kelvin Fyneboy's snatched strike wide after 56 minutes was as close as they got to troubling Barnes' goal.

Brabyn was seeing a lot of action on the right side as he skilled his way around a defender before laying on Bray-Evans on the edge of the box but this time he could only sky his effort into the fans behind the goal just after the hour mark.

Town rotated the side with three subs in quick succession with 20 minutes to go with Alex Wharton, Jack Bowyer and Ade Thompson replacing Bray-Evans, Brabyn and Kirk Davies.

Bowyer had a moment to get on the scoresheet but his heavy touch allowed the goalkeeper to sprawl onto the loose ball with 72 minutes on the clock.

Dobwalls were reduced to ten men after 76 minutes when Ray Spear was booked for dissent towards the referee.

While he was off though Falmouth failed to make the most of their extra man, Tom Moxham, Nixon and Barner linked up terrifically on the left but the latter ended the move by blazing high and wide of the goal.

With 89 minutes on the clock and with Spear now back on the pitch, Dobwalls did add a name to the scoresheet when Nathan Lang was left unmarked at the back post to volley home a cross Kurt Smith.

Spear wasn't on the pitch for long though as in stoppage time he flew into a late and high challenge on Falmouth's Andreas Calleja-Stayne leaving the referee with no choice but to brandish a straight red card.

The man in the middle dished out more cards in the few minutes that remained with James Ward, Nathan Lang and Jordan McCarthy all picking up yellows after a late Dobwalls challenge.

Despite this Falmouth eased their way through the final seconds to claim a comfortable, clinical and much deserved victory and celebrated in front of the F Troop, who had travelled in strong numbers once again to support their side.

Falmouth's next game is away to St Austell on Saturday, March 16.
