Falmouth Town Manager Andrew Westgarth was naturally in a jubilant mood after lifting the South West Peninsula League Premier West title following a 6-0 win over Dobwalls on the final day of the league season.

The Manager declared the day was one of the best moments of his footballing career, as a hat trick from the golden boot chasing Jack Bray-Evans, a David Broglino brace plus a strike from Luke Barner sealed the goods for Town on what was a memorable afternoon at Bickland Park.

Speaking after the match the manager said: "It's got to be up there with one of the best moments of my footballing career. The support, the celebrations, the numbers, the colour, the families and the joy. It couldn't get any better.

"The game itself 6-0. Jack Bray-Evans is looking like he'll win the Golden Boot, a clean sheet. Broggy (David Broglino) scoring a worldie. Martty (Ryan Martt) getting on the pitch. It couldn't have got any better.

"I'm disappointed Kirky (Kirk Davies), Tom (Annear), Ade (Thompson), Bowsy (Jack Bowyer) and Toby Clark were not involved but everyone has played such a big part in this season. Look at it now, the place is bouncing.

"That was for them (the supporters). At the end there was just magical. If the players can’t get a buzz out of that (then what will get them buzzing?)

"The supporters, us at the Packet End celebrating with them, it was not the case of a quick wave and thanks for coming. We’re in it with them and I can’t wait to get in the bar, celebrate with them and enjoy the night.

"My phone has been so busy the last few weeks with ex-players, managers, friends and family congratulating and wishing all the best to enjoy the moment. To see people like Joey Scott, coming down from Plymouth. Geoff Freeman here is brilliant. What they have given this club over the years is brilliant."

Town produced a superb performance to match the post-match celebrations sweeping Dobwalls away with some marvellous football at times. The town gaffer praised his side's consistency which is an attribute they have shown all year as they ran away with the league title. He said: "We played some great football, first half we hit the bar. Jamie Ware, what a performance. He played against Penryn and was excellent, he was excellent again today.

"Scotty Kellow at right-back, you can go through the whole team and there wasn't a bad performance in them. I just said to the boys 'this ones for your family. This one is for your pride.' That is exactly what they have done. It can be easily dismissed sometimes when you are successful, but if it was that easy everyone would have done it.

"The boys have been so consistent this year. To win trophies, to be successful you obviously need good players, you need commitment, you need attitude, you need squads. Mix that all together and you get days like today.

"This club is back where it should be. It lost its way for 20 years for whatever reason. This club was built on winning trophies, being successful, and being around the top sides.

"That is what we are hoping to do like we spoke about seven years ago this club was on its knees. I'd like to think now it's back on its feet and looking upwards. It's not just the football itself it's the community, the families, it's where it should be."

Town talisman Jack Bray-Evans had his golden boot hopes threatened by Bodmin Town's Dan Jennings who scored four goals in their 9-1 win over St Dennis on Friday night.

But as he has done so consistently this season the Falmouth striker was on target again midway through the first half to score the first of three goals for the afternoon. Commenting on his strikers' performance and achievements this season Westgarth said: "He was getting emotional with his first goal. I have been in his position before I won the Golden Boot in the first-ever Peninsula season. You naturally think about it, you can't not think about it.

"Last night when DJ (Dan Jennings) scored four he was twitching a little bit. But Jack was brought here to score goals, he has made such an impact on the season. If you look at the pro game, it's like looking at Man United when they brought in Eric Cantona, he just gave everyone a lift and that's exactly what Jack's done."

The Manager also praised the hard work and often unselfish play of fellow attacker Luke Brabyn who has been an integral component of Falmouth's strike force this season with 26 league goals to his name: "Where Brabyn deserves so much credit and it doesn't get noticed was that he was the talisman upfront and he moved out wide." The Manager began.

"Jack has slowly overtaken him because he was golden boot leader for ages and also Falmouth Town’s top goalscorer. That guy deserves massive respect and praise from me because things like that go unnoticed and Brabyn is a top man.

"Jack joined this club to win trophies and that is exactly what he has done. He has been heavily involved in anything good we have done. He scored the winner in the Senior Cup, scored the winner against Newquay then a hat-trick today. Absolutely brilliant."

Town's next match and last match of the campaign is on Saturday, May 14 when they play Torpoint Athletic in the Champions Bowl at Bodmin's Priory Park.
