Falmouth Town coach Charlie Davis believed his side's 4-2 Champions Bowl victory over Torpoint Athletic 'crowned off an epic season' as two late penalties from Luke Brabyn secured the treble for Town.

Town were two goals to the good in the first half thanks to Jack Bray-Evans, although Ryan Richards halved the deficit just before the interval.

Richards scored again after the break to level before Callum Thompson hit the bar for Athletic in the 86th minute.

That proved to be costly as two late penalties from Brabyn secured a memorable treble for Town after already winning the South West Peninsula League and the Cornwall Senior Cup.

Speaking after the game Davis said: "It's always enjoyable to win any cup final and get any trophy. We will enjoy that as any other. I guess it was a bit of a strange build-up to this as a cup final or an event because both teams are the same.

"You work really hard throughout the year and get a showpiece event on top of winning your respective leagues. It was enjoyable in that respect and yeah it has crowned off an epic season, it has been so enjoyable the boys have been fantastic.

"The support that we receive off the pitch. It has just been something that I don't think any of us as a whole group or club will forget for a long time. We have spoken about this inside our group, you never know when you're going to get you're next taste of something nice or winning something so it is something to savour."

Davis lauded the clinical nature of Brabyn who elegantly stepped up to the plate on two occasions late on to score from the penalty spot for Town.

"I don't think he gets enough praise at times does Luke (Brabyn) he has been brilliant all season." Davis began. "Actually what people tend to forget is he ran the line so well for us in that first period of the season which seems so long ago now.

"Jack has come in and rightly so he has his headlines and accolades but the pair of them have been superb all year. To step up in the last minute to score the first penalty is mega for me and I think that shows what sort of character he is and what he is all about, to step up five minutes later and do the same again on a big game fair play to him."

The clash between the top sides from the West and East divisions of the SWPL will be a Western League fixture next season. Giving his verdict on his opponents Davis said: "You could see they have quality all over the pitch, I thought their back three dealt with the majority of what we threw at them.

"Take the penalties away and we had a few chances but I thought they were great across the pitch. Their front two are very lively and in the second half showed that off more than the first half and put us under pressure. They brought the game back from 2-0 and arguably they might well be disappointed they hit the crossbar and didn't finish the game off themselves. It is a massive taste of what is to come next season, I have no doubts they will have a very good season for sure.

That is the last game of Falmouth's season as they prepare for the step up to the Western League next season.
