Helston colts 12 - Penryn/ Perranporth colts 43
Penryn Rugby colts, combined with Perranporth, made the short trip to play Helston colts on Friday evening, writes Jonathan Plummer.
The Penryn/Perranporth team, who were League and Cup champions last season, were looking to keep their winning streak going against a very strong Helston team.
Penryn/Perranporth scored first half tries by wings Finn Reid (2) and Robin Palmer. Not to be outdone the forwards also got a try by hooker Aaron Jones, one conversion was added by Ross Mcknight, for a half time score to Helston 5 Penryn/Perranporth 22.
The second half continued in a similar fashion with tries being scored by flanker Toby Retallack, fullback Ross McKnight and centre Fin Love rounding off the try scoring. Tom Tanswell converted all 3 second half tries. Helston managed a consolation score to bring a final score to Helston 12 Penryn/Perranporth 43.
This was another superb performance by the double winners, the defence was excellent and there was some great handling in poor conditions to score seven tries.
Every single player had a great match and high work rate against a very good and well drilled Helston side.
