FOR a second successive week the weather decimated the football scene in the west of the county with just eight games surviving the onslaught, writes Leon Prynn.

One club who was not complaining was Kernow Stone St Piran League premier division leaders St Day who extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points following their 5-1 win at St Just.

Gavin Boon and Dan Richards each grabbed a pair of goals with Joe Cooper scoring the other goal.

Helston Athletic Development I also chalked up a 5-1 victory at home to Pendeen Rovers in a match that was played at Hayle FC.

Level at 1-1 at half-time with Gregory Eastman scoring for the Blues, Athletic secured victory with a four-goal second display from Kai Cornish, Finn Costa, Harrison Jewell and Eastman.

Making it a hat-trick of fixtures with a 5-1 win was Mullion Reserves who came out on top against Wendron Reserves. Tom Bryant (2), Harry Dark, Jack Rutterford and Ryan Tonkin scored for Mullion with Ant Brown netting United’s consolation goal.

There were no games played in divisions one or two and in division three only the Goonhavern Athletic and Falmouth DC match went ahead before being abandoned.

There was plenty of interest in division four with title chasers Perranporth going down 7-4 against the vastly improved Troon Reserves. Dan Gilbert (2), Finley Stribley and Dan Ware scored for Perran.

St Just Reserves were unable to raise a side to go to Penryn Athletic Reserves and promotion chasing Mullion III were held to a 2-2 draw in their local derby with Lizard Argyle Reserves.

There was no shortage of goals between Dropship Reserves and Pendeen Rovers Reserves with Dropship winning 8-5.

In the Cornwall Intermediate Cup West Cornwall had eyes on a shock result after leading Mousehole Development 1-0 at half-time with a goal from Justin Barnard, but the visitors hit back in the second half to squeeze home 2-1 with goals from Matt Stephens and Josh Bissett.
