It was the second Sunday Cup win for Helston's veterans in three seasons.

Falmouth Packet: A double delight for Helston Athletic this weekend

The win topped off an already successful weekend for the club, as Helston's first team hosted Saltash in the Toolstation Western League a day earlier, on April 6.

The clash took an unexpected turn as forecasted weather conditions led to a venue change, shifting the match to Devon.

Helston took the new development in stride, appreciating the cooperation of Devon FA, Saltash United, match officials, and the Western League in rearranging the match, which took place at the headquarters of Devon FA.

On the field, the Blues made their mark in the first half, courtesy of Rikki Shepherd. Kai Cornish pulled the ball back from the goal line for Shepherd to tap home in the 33rd minute.

In the second half  Tom Payne built on the early lead, scoring two goals, and Jacob Smith and Kai Cornish each added one to the tally, leading to a final scoreline of 4-0 in Helston's favour.

Mid-game substitutions were made on the Blues team with Sam Carter stepping in for Jordan Copp, Tom Payne replaced by Greg Eastman, and Tyler Elliott being swapped in for David Barker.

The match ended in a celebratory note for the Blues as the 4-0 victory saw them move onto 69 points - a record points tally since joining the Toolstation Western League.
