Falmouth Rugby Club has recently played host to a series of nautical themed touring teams, creating a wave of excitement and camaraderie on and off the field, writes Gupta Singh.

Over the past few weekends, the club welcomed Streatham-Croydon Ladies to play a Cornish Womens Barbarians side comprised of locally sourced maidens from surrounding Cornish teams, while Old Bristolians Vets were entertained by a Barbarians male team largely made up from within the senior men's team at Falmouth, leaving a lasting impression on all involved.

While the motto "what goes on tour stays on tour" rings true, Falmouth Rugby Club would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to making these events truly memorable for our visitors. The warmth of Eagles hospitality and spirited competition showcased the essence of sportsmanship and community that Falmouth Rugby Club prides itself on. Both games under social rules were deemed a draw, so everyone was a winner!

The nautical theme added an extra layer of fun and creativity to the matches, with players and supporters embracing the maritime spirit. From sailors to pirates, to creative visitors from under the sea. The pitch became a sea of colorful costumes and laughter, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for all who participated.

"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make these nautical themed tours a success," said chairman John Bullock.

"The support and enthusiasm from our club members, volunteers, and the local community truly made a difference in creating an unforgettable experience for our visitors. We look forward to continuing to foster these connections and hosting more exciting events in the future, so if you're looking to visit Cornwall and plan a tour get in early."

Falmouth Rugby Club remains committed to promoting the values of sportsmanship, inclusivity, and friendship both on and off the field.

As the seas of rugby now come to a close, and the first team look forward to playing back in Counties Tribute 2, the club are proud to now navigate as an official music venue for the forthcoming international sea shanty festival in the off season, taking place between June 14 - 16.
