Football: New management team announced at Helston AFC

This comes after the recent announcement in the Helston Packet two weeks ago that Dan Bua will take the reins as the First Team manager.

This pivotal appointment marks a turning point for the club as Bua assembles a management team that showcases an impressive blend of local talent and extensive football experience, committed to bringing success to the club.

Keith Jacka has stepped into the vital role of Strength and Conditioning Coach, a position that will require him to keep players fit and ready for the demanding physical challenges of the Western League.

Jacka’s connection with the club is deeply personal; he has spent much of his football journey at Helston, experiencing success and forging lifelong memories.

"Helston AFC will always be special to me," Jacka remarked.

"I spent a lot of my time here, from youth teams to the senior squad, and now it’s a privilege to give back.

"With plenty of hard work ahead, I’m excited about preparing the team for the upcoming season and helping them thrive."

Moving up from the management team of the Development Squad is Dave Turner, who takes the role of Head Coach.

Turner has rich coaching experience and holds a UEFA B coaching licence, making him well-equipped to oversee training and development strategies for the players.

His focus will be on nurturing local talent and ensuring they reach their full potential within the club.

"This club means a lot to me," Turner said.

"I’m looking forward to working closely with Dan again along with the rest of the coaching staff to implement effective training strategies and to create an environment where players feel supported.

Returning to the club is Kyle 'Woody' Woodhouse, who brings a tactical edge and expertise after a brief hiatus at Porthleven.

Known for his football insight, Woodhouse is returning with renewed enthusiasm for his hometown club.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be back at my hometown club.

"When the opportunity arose to return, I couldn’t say no.

"Helston is where my heart lies, and I want to see our local talent thrive.

"To be part of the club’s new chapter is an incredible opportunity."

Ed Timmons has also joined the coaching ranks as First Team Coach, having faced an unexpected end to his playing career.

Timmons shares a strong bond at Helston, having played at the club before transitioning into coaching.

"Being asked to join the management team so soon after my playing days ended was both unexpected and an honour," Timmons commented.

"Dan and I have a deep connection, forged over many seasons, which made this decision easy.

"We both share similar values and a passion for developing players, and I look forward to this opportunity to contribute to the team’s success."

Finally, rounding out the coaching staff is Matt Quick, who will serve as the Goalkeeping Coach.

Quick has built a respected reputation in the local community, renowned for his one-on-one training sessions with aspiring goalkeepers.

Holding a UEFA B Goalkeeping coaching qualification, he is keen to develop Helston’s goalkeepers across both senior teams.

"I’m looking forward to working with our keepers and helping them hone their skills," Quick stated.

"There’s a lot of potential here, and I’m excited to be part of the journey."
