Falmouth Town enjoyed a profitable four-day spell when they collected maximum points from their Walter Parson SW Peninsula League games with Wadebridge Town and Dobwalls.
Influential midfielder Finn Robinson was called into work just before kick-off, and Oliver Perrow and Levi Hilling were still injured, with Liam Uren serving the last match of his three-match suspension.
Skipper Reece Carroll was also back from his excellent stint with the first team.
Manager Jon Perrow was able to juggle the starting 11, knowing that with four matches in the next seven days, it was imperative that the squad’s workload was shared.
It was an even affair for the first 10 minutes or so, with Wadebridge working really hard to contain Town's young team, but from a great pass by midfielder Taylor Packenas, striker Alex Wharton turned his man sharply and smashed a shot that just flew over the bar.
Town scored the only goal of the half in the 27th minute when, from a deep corner by Carroll, Evan Tresidder rose high to head the ball back across the goal and into the net.
Straight from Wadebridge’s restart, Town won the ball back with Kian Thomas putting the ball in the net with a tidy finish, but it was unfortunately ruled offside.
Referee Sam Hadfield, who had a fine game in the middle, ended the half with Town only one goal ahead despite their huffing and puffing.
Defender Ned Symons, who had been booked in the opening half, was replaced by 16-year-old Ed Carter at half-time, and Carter went on to have a fine second half, with his speed, strong running, and great use of the ball really shining through.
Town began the second half with real menace, and from a Carroll corner, Wharton had an effort cleared off the line.
In the 51st minute, and from a beautiful pass from Town’s outstanding goalkeeper, Josh Clark, he found Tresidder, who expertly lobbed the ’keeper from all of 20 yards for a goal of sheer quality.
In so doing, Tresidder reached double figures for the season, a great return in his first full season at this level.
It was all Town now, and this showed in the 61st minute when Sam Buckley threaded a superb ball through to Thomas, who finished superbly with his first touch.
A great through ball from Packenas in the 75th minute found Tresidder, who slid the ball inside the upright for his hat-trick.
Wadebridge delivered a superb corner, but Rowe cleared with a brave header to keep a clean sheet.
In the 72nd minute, Tresidder closed down a defender and from his tackle, Jack Davies lobbed the goalkeeper with a superb finish to score the final goal of the match.
Town still had time to bring on another 16-year-old, Tylor Berry, to make his debut, and was unlucky not to score right at the end.
After the match, manager Jon Perrow said: “I was a little bit disappointed with the 1st half, I felt we lacked a bit of intensity but I reminded the lads at half time that we only have four matches remaining.
“It seemed to work as we came out of the blocks in the second half and really pushed Wadebridge back with our intensity and desire to win.”
