MULLION 186-9 PERRANARWORTHAL 189-9 Not much is going right for Mullion at present and at Garro Lane Perranarworthal snatched victory off the last ball as the home team saw their chance of breaking their losing sequence disappear.

Jim Spiers (23), Phil Bostock (30no) and Hal Parsons (14 no) dramatically took the visitors from 122 for eight to 189 for nine to win the game. Mullion elected to bat but visitors had early success having Trevor Lee and Jack Casley caught behind off Carl Murphy to leave the home side 11 for two. Kevin Bosustow and Jim Pearson added 59 before Bosustow holed out for 39. Pearson went on to a season’s best of 77 but only Dan Gilman with 22 offered any real support. Gilman then took three early wickets as the visitors stuttered to 40 for three.

Murphy and Andrew Brotherton added 40 before both falling in the same over, after drinks, to Bosustow. Lee Coston fell for 0 and at 85 for 6 the match had swung Mullion's way.

Two more wickets for Bosustow and Perran were 122 for 8 but a vital 46 run partnership between Bostock (30no) and Duckham(33) set up the finale, with last man Parsons ending 14 no as the visitors, needing two of the last ball, smashed a straight four. The defeat leaves Mullion six points behind Rosudgeon at the foot of the division two table. Things don’t get any easier with a trip to leaders Ludgvan on Saturday.

Falmouth III 251-2 MULLION 122 Mullion seconds ninth straight defeat leaves them 19 points adrift at the bottom of division four.

Glen Page (87) and Steve Kellow (130no) put on 201 for Falmouth’s first wicket. Only Bruce Jordan had any success with the ball with two for 30. After Joe Stuteley made 26 and Mark Johnson 19 it was Simon Meridew’s 31 not out that at least gained the consolation of three batting bonus points. Mullion host St Ives this weekend.

HAYLE II 173-6 PORTHLEVEN 57 Hayle moved to within six points of Porthleven in the division three mid table with this big win by 116 runs at the Towans.

The home team got off to a good start before Nigel Dunstan had danger man Neil Trestrail caught and bowled for 21.

His opening partner Ben Trestrail went on to make 31 before being trapped lbw by Mark Pollard.

All the rest of the top order got into double figures.

James Bennet held things together with 47 not out while David Allen and Matthew Cook both made 20. Brad Bury was the pick of the Porthleven attack taking two for 29 from his twelve overs.

Dunstan took two for 53 with Pollard picking up the other wicket. JJ Walker’s twelve overs cost 40 runs. The visitors lost Brad Bury for four with the total on nine. Kevin Oliver followed at 21 for two. Chris Higgs made 13 but when he was dismissed at 28 for three it was the start of a sorry collapse.

The last eight wickets fell for just 29 runs with the end coming at 57 all out inside 22 overs. Only Chris Crowle of the rest got into double figures with 12. Josh Rule and Ben Trestrail took three wickets each. Porthleven are at bottom side Troon on Saturday.

GULVAL II 119 PORTHLEVEN II 121-3 Porthleven seconds gained only their second win of the season with a seven wicket home success over Gulval seconds.

Though still bottom only five points cover Gulval, Ludgvan and Porthleven now. After the visitors made a useful start Josh Wakelin wrecked the innings taking five for 26.

The target was achieved with openers Ben Pascoe (15) and Barry Partridge (31) getting off to a good start. After Tony Riley was dismissed for 20 Daniel Walker saw his side to a welcome win with 32 not out. Fourth place St Just thirds visit on Saturday.

HELSTON 124-4 PENZANCE 125-3 Helston’s interest in the Dawe Insurance Andrew Cup ended at the second round stage with a seven wicket defeat at Penzance.

The winning runs however came off the penultimate ball of the match in a thrilling finish.

Josh Williams held the Helston innings together with 33 not out after openers Stuart Pethick (17) and Steve Hosking (22) had put on 32. Kyle Allen carried his bat with 55 for the home team. Guy Leathley took two for 36 from his five overs.
