Falmouth Town picked up a well-earned point in their game with Buckland Athletic having played for most of the second half with ten men.

Town boss Alan Carey was left angry at the decision to send-off star striker Ian Hodges in the 47th minute for what was deemed a deliberate hand ball in the penalty area.

At the time Falmouth were leading 3-1 and looking comfortable but following the red card, and the subsequent penalty kick, the home side were left hanging on for a point in the end.

Falmouth took the lead after four minutes when the ball fell to Joe Lugg on the edge of the box and he placed a right-foot strike into the bottom corner.

It was 2-0 midway through the half when a free-kick into the box, by Chris Menhenick, was fumbled by Buckland keeper Neil Montandon - allowing Jamie Devine to prod the ball home from close range.

Buckland get back into the match on 43rd minute when, following a goalmouth scramble, Mike Booth's shot was adjudged to have crossed the goal-line by referee Lee Roberts.

Falmouth restored their two-goal lead immediately though as Hodges outmuscled Gary Fisher and placed a shot into the top left corner of the goal.

However, the turning point of the match came two minutes into the second half as Hodges handled a Simon Revell corner at the back post. He was sent-off for deliberate hand ball and Dan Stevens scored the penalty to pull Buckland back into the match.

However, despite numerous chances falling their way, Buckland could only find one more goal in the second half as Gavin Hammon hit the ball through a crowd of players following a corner.

The point keeps Buckland ahead of Town in third place.
