Truro Road Runner Isobel Wykes did her local club and country proud on Sunday as she finished second, and first for England, in the Anglo Celtic Plate.
The competition takes place in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland for home internationals to compete for the trophy and this year it was held at Redwick, near Cardiff. The race is 100km long with 31, two-mile laps.
Izzy finished first for England and second in the overall competition. The weather was very hot, but the Truro runner still managed to complete the course in a personal best of eight hours, 45 minutes and nine seconds. Isobel was overwhelmed with the result.
She, said: “I never expected to finish where I did. I am so chuffed.”
Izzy, said she is aiming to beat her personal best next year and finish first overall.
