Plymstock Utd 3, Porthleven 3

PORTHLEVEN surrendered a 3-0 lead as Plymstock equalised in the sixth minute of stoppage time on Saturday.

The depleted Fishermen – whose absentees included manager Alan Carey who began a two-match ban – looked to be cruising at 3-0 up early in the second half, but the hosts pegged them back to earn a share of the spoils.

Josh Sims deputised in goal for the unavailable James Wignall, while Ben Stidwell and Rob Carey were also missing.

Port took the lead after 17 minutes thanks to a thunderous 30-yard strike from Dan Hindmarch, which flew into the top corner.

Hindmarch then shot over the bar before Jared Sims’ corner rebounded off the underside of the bar and was cleared.

A Jack Adams shot was well saved by Plymstock keeper Jordan Stidson, before Hindmarch’s effort from 18 yards went wide.

The Fishermen doubled their advantage on the stroke of half time. Hindmarch set up Matt Drummond, whose shot was deflected for a corner. From Sims’ kick, Ben Williams headed home.

Three minutes after the break it got even better for the visitors when they were awarded a penalty for shirt-pulling on Drummond and Dan Carne converted the spot kick.

Plymstock’s fightback began on 65 minutes when Craig Roberts’ free kick wasn’t cleared and James Yates was on hand to convert the loose ball.

Ten minutes from time a long throw-in by Tom Wakeham was handled by Heydon Dark in the area and Tom Buckley tucked away the resultant penalty.

Stidson then made fine saves to deny Drummond and Adams, before Port were hit with a hammer blow deep in stoppage time when Buckley curled in a free kick from the edge of the area.

Porthleven: Josh Sims, C Wormington (S Haskell-Mills 75m), M Fox, L Hunter, B Williams, H Dark, D Carne, Jared Sims, J Adams, M Drummond, D Hindmarch (J Rapsey 60m).

Port entertain Dobwalls on Saturday (3pm).
