A LARGE field took to the fairways at Mullion Golf Club on Sunday to contest the Gordon Redfearn Memorial Salver.

Plenty of sunshine graced the course along with a fresh breeze for players to battle against.

After all was said and done, Terry Fisher was crowned champion from the Stableford format competition with his score of 37 points beating a group of four, Chris Harris, Ben Burrows, Tom Julier and Ashley Spinks, who all finished one behind him. Harris was given the official runners-up spot on countback.

It was not the only thing being celebrated at the club over the weekend as something spectacular occurred during the Tex Edwards Trophy, played for by senior members.

The trio of John Moody, Ray Purnell and Gary Howells won the cup with a score of 68.1, with the success being helped by the latter who hit a hole-in-one.

Coming second were the team of Brian Swabey, John Turpin and Tom Suddes on 68.6 and third went to Peter Reynolds, Brian Wearing and Simon Bindon with 70.

Once the play was finished for the day, a bottle of whiskey provided by Howells for his hole-in-one was much enjoyed by Mullion’s members.
