THE DEVENISH Cup, in which the top 16 places on the day qualify for a knockout competition, attracted 91 entries on Saturday at Falmouth Golf Club, writes Keith Rashleigh.

Scoring was to prove difficult, with 31 points good enough to qualify for the knockout stages.

The eventual winner on the day was Phil Jones who played steadily throughout to return a fine 39 points including a birdie at the 12th hole.

Runner up was young Ben Browning who despite a “blob” on the opening hole recovered well to card 38 points, including a very strong finish with birdies at the 13th 15th 16th and 18th holes.

Third was Raymond A Clark with another tidy score of 37 points including birdies at the 7th and 11th holes. Rik Shaw took fourth place with 36 points and another solid round, just pipping Scott Pedlar, who was fifth on countback.
