April 1st dawned grey and windy but mercifully it wasn't raining for the annual Cober Valley Rotary Club Charity Golf Day held at West Cornwall Golf Club.
This year the chosen charity was The Cove, a pastoral care unit for patients and their families which is being built in the grounds of the Royal Cornwall Hospital.
Macmillan is spearheading the fundraising for this project and is supported in some measure by all of Cornwall's Rotary Clubs.
Led by President Rachael Curnow, the organising team had the event down to a fine art. All the tees were sponsored by local businesses and the golf was fully subscribed with 18 teams participating in what the group describe as one of Cornwall’s favourite golfing charity events.
The event was won by the team from RAF St Mawgan with a team from Falmouth Golf Club being narrowly beaten into second place. Additional prizes were awarded for nearest the pin and ‘twos’ and a game of Irish bingo rounded off a very enjoyable day.
President Rachael thanked all the participants, Santander and all the other sponsors for their support of such a worthwhile event, helping to bring The Cove project to life.
