Falmouth Golf Club Professional Nick Rogers has enjoyed a very successful year as captain of the West Region Professional Golfers' Association, including raising a very impressive £6,271.20 for his chosen charities, writes Keith Rashleigh.

Nick has now handed over the captaincy to Paul Jones from Ashley Wood near Bournemouth.

The presentation of the cheques were made to Karen from the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Paul from the Cornwall Air Ambulance for £3135.60 each.

At the annual meeting Nick gave thanks to everyone within the West Region who supported these charities through the year and to the starters at the events who managed to persuade the players to part with their money.

Nick said: “It was an amazing honour to have been asked to be captain. When I joined the PGA nearly 30 years ago, I never imagined that such a privileged position would come my way.

"My sincere thanks go to everyone at West Region Headquarters and all the professionals within the region for their support."
