The Falmouth Ladies have had a busy few weeks and lady captain, Val Graham, had much to report at the monthly presentation at the beginning of June.

As well as giving vouchers to the prize winners she reported back on the results of the League fixtures, all of which were played away.

At Newquay the ladies lost four-and-a-half to two-and-a-half, at Truro they lost five-and-a-half to one-and-a-half, and at St Enodoc they lost four-and-a-half to two-and-a-half.

However, they have yet to play each of these teams at Falmouth where they will seek to make the most of the home advantage.

The ladies also played their second round match in the Gammon where they met Trevose at Porthpean. It was an extremely close match with a nail-biting finish.

Katie Rule beat Tricia Prescott on the 18th to take an early lead for Falmouth, but Trevose won the next three games to go 3-1 up overall.

Lena Holland lost to Lesley Organ, Debi Hunt lost to Helen Haley and Sue Short lost to Heather Johnston.

The tide began to turn when Pauline Clifton beat Vanessa Eldridge three-and-two, and hope was restored when the in-form Janet Thomas beat Maria Buckley on the 19th. Standing even, and with all to play for, it was up to the experienced Jane Wooldridge on the deciding par four 18th hole.

Her pitch onto the green was perfect. Norma Richards struggled to hold the green and mis-judged the return, which left Wooldridge with a confident two putts for victory.

Falmouth now go on to face second seeds Perranporth at Mullion.
