FALMOUTH Gig Rowing Club's men's A team have won the World Championship title at this year's event on the Isles of Scilly.

The crew faced stiff opposition in Sunday's final with Caradon and Looe challenging them, but after being behind they found forced their way in front to take the crown for the fifth consecutive year.

In the women's race, Newquay were crown champions after St Mary's pipped them at the line, but were disqualified for lifting the yoke.

Hundreds of rowers from across the world entered the competition including teams from the USA and Holland along with crews from Cornwall and the South West.
