Without a doubt, Friday evening’s racing at the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club (RCYC) took place in testing conditions, Chris Osbaldeston.

The gusty wind coming out of the North combining with an awkward, choppy sea gave competitors numerous problems. For a while it looked as though Daring was going to be pushed all the way; The Big Purple was breathing down her neck, while Shenanigan 2 and Insatiable were also in close attendance.

Then the division one fleet headed out into the bay, while the Sunbeams saw David Townrow’s Phantasy leading from Polly, Verony and Saucy Sally. The latter’s choice to stay further out in the bay seemed to pay off handsomely as she steadily overhauled the two boats ahead of her, to reach the final mark in second place, a position she maintained all the way to the clubhouse.

In E class Jemalda had things pretty much all her own way, finishing well ahead of Moonlighter and Wild Child, whilst Rebel and Alderney Race, sole competitors in their respective classes, both completed the course to pick up winning points.

By the time the division one fleet reappeared, Daring had a comfortable lead which she held to the finish. On the water, The Big Purple was in second place while behind her Macavity, Insatiable and Shenanigan 2 battled for position all the way to the club finish. After this, the third race in the current points series, Daring reigns supreme three points from Macavity, Jethro and The Big Purple.

The Sunbeams are led by Polly, with Saucy Sally and Phantasy trailing in her wake; while Jemalda heads the E class rankings from Wild Child and Amneris.
