EXETER Chiefs star Jack Nowell has been including in the 31-man squad who will represent England at the Rugby World Cup - but fellow Cornishman Luke Cowan-Dickie missed the cut.

Head coach Stuart Lancaster unveiled the team's final look earlier today and Nowell, who grew up in Newlyn and has nine caps to his name, is among five players who will battle for positions at full-back or on the wings.

His Chiefs team-mate Cowan-Dickie was not selected though as Saracen's Jamie George, Bath's Rob Webber and Leicester's Tom Youngs were chosen as the three hookers for the competition which kicks-off on September 18 when England face Fiji at Twickenham.

Perhaps the most surprising selection was rugby league convert Sam Burgess, who comes into the squad ahead of Luthur Burrell as one of four centres.

Lancaster said: "It’s really positive that we have such depth and options to choose from.

"Selection wasn’t easy and it is tough to leave anyone out but it’s important to stress that the players not in this group are still part of our wider squad and could come in at any point."
